INTERMEDIATE (50/70) BALL

Intermediate (50/70) Ball (boys & girls/ ages 11-13) - Typically 5th to 7th Grade

The Intermediate (50/70) division is geared toward 11 and 12 year-olds with baseball experience at the Majors division. CMLL plans to field team(s) in this division in 2024 based on player interest. The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. The division, which was a new division of Little League Baseball in 2013 for players league-age 11-13 with postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series, offers a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths). Many of the Junior League rules are used such as runners being permitted to lead off bases, runners may attempt to steal at any time, and allowing an on-deck batter.

It is expected that 11-12 year-olds will be dual rostered with a regular season Majors team. A few 13 year-olds may also play at this level. All players must be evaluated prior to rosters being formed via a draft. Due to the rosters being formed through a draft, players are not guaranteed to be placed with requested teammates or players from the same school. Coach and teammate requests are not available in AAA Ball, Minors, Majors, or Intermediate divisions.

This program is geared toward players who have spent at least one season at the Majors Ball level developing skills.  Skills and attributes are evaluated by independent evaluators, CMLL coaches and Board Members at a league-wide player evaluation session, and players are then drafted accordingly.

Note on bats: Bats meeting USA or BBCOR performance standards are permitted in this division as well as solid-one piece wood models.

Be sure to check here for other Equipment Requirements.

Practices and games: In Spring, your Intermediate (50/70) team will have approximately one practice (additional to Majors) and two games. These games are likely to be double headers on Sunday afternoons/evenings. This means you will be playing a lot of baseball! We anticipate a 12-16 game regular season against other local leagues. There is no way of telling you which days you will practice right now. Spring game schedules are not known at this time but will be coordinated with our district (D4) and other regional districts. Each division in Cedar Mill Little League has a league coordinator who puts together the practice and game schedule for their respective league. By the week of the coaches meeting, each coordinator will have been given their fields and times they have available and will start making the schedule.
